By the time my daughter Emma was 7, I could see that her "picture-perfect life" also made her a prime candidate for the mental health challenges facing an alarming number of "Perfect Girl" teens in affluent communities like ours. I'll forever wonder if my own overachieving, multitasking tendencies caused me to miss important warning signs. But I am also proud of how I supported Emma and encouraged her to leave a stable corporate job and pursue her passion — a decision that also accelerated her recovery and helped transform her into an author and beloved Bookstagram, BookTok, and Substack voice.
