But when you try to find one hierarchy that organizes your entire therapy system, you’ll keep coming up short. Language doesn’t work that way. Once you get into the school-age years, language growth becomes highly variable. That’s why no “language therapy curriculum” exists. Trust me, I’ve looked. What actually works is organizing language into clusters of skill, which I call clinical containers. Think of it like organizing a closet. You don’t throw everything into one pile and try to arrange it in order. You create categories first. Then you organize within them. In language therapy, those containers are: ...Phonology ...Orthography ...Morphology ...Semantics ...Syntax Once those are defined, then you can build hierarchies within each area. That’s what reduces decision fatigue. That’s what gives you structure.
