EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE FOR BID EVALUATION COMMITTEES (BEC) TRAINING DATE: 23 to 24 July 2026 VENUE: BETC Offices I WINDHOEK TIME: 09:00 to16:00 COURSE OVERVIEW Bid Evaluation Committee (BEC) members are entrusted with making fair, objective and transparent procurement decisions that safeguard public resources, promote value for money and maintain stakeholder confidence. While procurement legislation, policies and evaluation criteria provide the technical framework for bid evaluations, emotional intelligence enables committee members to communicate effectively, manage bias, resolve disagreements professionally, navigate pressure, and exercise sound ethical judgement throughout the procurement process. However, many Bid Evaluation Committees continue to experience challenges arising from unconscious bias, ineffective communication, personality clashes, emotional decision-making, competing stakeholder expectations, poor committee dynamics, external influence and inconsistent application of evaluation criteria. These challenges often result in procurement disputes, appeals, audit findings, reputational risks, delays in procurement processes and reduced confidence in procurement outcomes. This programme equips participants with the practical knowledge, tools and emotional intelligence competencies required to strengthen ethical leadership, improve committee collaboration, manage conflict constructively, maintain objectivity and contribute to fair, transparent and defensible procurement decisions while strengthening procurement governance and organisational integrity.
