Ashoka University congratulates Benna Fathima K on being awarded the Wenner-Gren Foundation Dissertation Fieldwork Grant, which provides USD 25,000 to support eighteen months of ethnographic fieldwork in the Lakshadweep archipelago for her research project ‘Island Deathscape: Death, Loss, and the Ethics of Life in the Lakshadweep Archipelago’. 'Her research promises an innovative ethnographic exploration of how island communities socially and culturally live through multiple thresholds: between life and death, between illness and healing, between land and sea, between open oceans and territorial borders, between history and future, and between biodiversity and climate change,’ said her supervisor, Can Evren, Assistant Professor of Sociology and Anthropology, Ashoka University. #AshokaUniversity
