The Broad was undoubtedly one of the museums that left a lasting impression on me during my visit to Los Angeles in December 2025. From the moment you enter, it becomes clear that the architecture is an integral part of the experience. Opened in 2015, The Broad houses an outstanding collection spanning from the 1950s to the present day. Not every artwork reflects my personal taste, and it doesn’t have to. Great museums don’t exist to confirm our preferences, they invite us to look more closely, to question, and ultimately, to understand. That dialogue between the artwork and the viewer is what makes contemporary art so compelling. The main galleries are located on the third floor and can be reached by escalator or elevator. What immediately caught my attention upon arriving was the remarkable ceiling, where natural daylight and carefully integrated artificial lighting create an exceptional viewing environment. The architecture guides your attention towards the art without ever competing with it, allowing each work to speak for itself. Beyond the exhibition galleries, the museum also features meeting rooms, a theatre, and the collection storage facilities. On the ground floor, visitors will find the museum bookshop and gift shop. In my next post, I’ll introduce the founders of The Broad, explore the building’s architecture in greater detail, and take a closer look at several artists represented in the museum’s collection. My impression? An exceptional architectural space where light, design, and art exist in perfect balance, allowing the collection to tell its own story. @thebroadmuseum #CollectorsNeedle #TheBroad #MuseumArchitecture #ContemporaryArt #RichardBelgium
