I went to my physical on September 17th, weighed in at 149 pounds. I am only 5'2", so overweight. Blood sugar was 100; A1C was 5.8. Lots of good things going on with my cholesterol, LDL, and HDL. Was instructed to get back into the gym, reinstate the dietary patterns I practiced before my son was diagnosed with colorectal cancer, and "fire myself" from trying to take care of everyone's problems (especially since both my spouse and son have indicated they can do much more than I permit). So, fast forward to today. I found a way of eating in November, right on the cusp of making stringent dietary changes, and today I am 137.4. I am especially proud because of my age (and the slower metabolism) and the ease with which I made the shifts needed to enhance my health and fitness. This way of eating is definitely a key aspect of my wellness program and I hope to live long and prosper since my Mom lived to almost 103, with knee arthritis causing her death through cardiac atrophy due to difficulty in walking. I am a retired IT Program Manager from a well known telecom company. I transitioned from a position as an Associate Professor in Nursing, went back to school, changed careers and launched another career in Information Technology. I now am a photographer who is having an exhibition in the mayor's private gallery in February (City of Atlanta). I do strength training, yoga, Tai Chi, enjoy our community book club, cooking and community living. (Forgot: traveling has been a favorite pastime. Traveling closer to home these days rather than the long out the country trips).
