Flew home yesterday from a tennis championship I'd been building toward for months — gold medal, still slightly in disbelief about it if I'm honest. Going through security on the way back, had to empty absolutely everything into the tray — medal included, since apparently that sets off the metal detector every single time. Almost lifeless in comparison. Real gold has a very specific color, apparently — didn't expect my own medal to be the thing that proved it. The earrings are Louise Carter — coated the same way Swiss watch brands do theirs, so they keep that true gold tone instead of fading toward grey the way regular gold-plated jewelry does. Came home with a gold medal and a matching pair of earrings, and honestly didn't clock the second part until I was standing in a security queue.
