Women and girls should not be held back by their periods. That’s why we’re making sure they can better manage them – by bringing clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene to schools around the world. Education and awareness about periods is important too. We worked with Madina’s school in Burkina Faso to deliver period health and hygiene management training that helps girls gain confidence, unlock their potential and focus on their future. “I was lucky enough to benefit from training and awareness-raising on menstrual management, and thanks to that, menstruation hasn't held me back” Madia says. “That's why I feel obliged to advocate and defend the cause of girls.” Girls at Madina’s school are now confident in managing their periods and health. Madina hopes that soon, “every girl student will be able to continue her studies and fulfil her dreams without menstruation being an obstacle”.
