A client said something to my coach Lori this week that I haven't been able to shake… She was reflecting on a call they'd had, and she wrote: "I realized I was heading into this summer with old habits… eat less, exercise more, lose weight. You made me remember that is what I'm trying to change." That one truly stopped me…because I realized the little annoying voice in my own head that had started to chime in too… Because here's the honest to goodness truth… Even now, even doing this for a living, the second the warm weather hits and the swimsuit comes out, there's still the call of the old habits… Eat less. Tighten up. EARN IT. So yea…I know that voice. I've heard it for years. And I don't think she's alone in it. Neither am I. The moment shorts, swimsuits, and pool parties show up on the calendar, the instinct kicks in. Cut carbs. Skip meals. Train more. Lose the weight as fast as possible. We do this, not because any of it worked so well before, but because it's what we've always been taught to do. As she said… "I feel like I have spent my whole life trying to eat as little as possible." And I can say…I've lived that one too. Years of eating a little less. Being a little stricter. Ignoring hunger a little longer. Hoping that this time the results finally stick. But that cycle never gave me freedom. It gave me more food focus. More cravings. More guilt. More starting over. Which is exactly why her realization mattered so much. She wasn't trying to figure out how to restrict better. She was learning how to stop repeating the pattern altogether. And here's how she put it when she decided to commit: "I don't want to try and pick the right months that I will need it the most. I want a year of consistency and accountability." That's the shift. Not white-knuckling through swimsuit season and falling off by fall. Not another set of rules to follow until the deadline passes. A path you can actually stay on - so you stop heading into every summer with the same old habits, and start building a true lifestyle you love that helps you feel and look your most fabulous. So if that little voice is loud for you right now too, this is your invitation… —> Apply for a coaching consult here: https://redefiningstrength.com/coaching?sl=fbvoice We'll look at what keeps pulling you back into the eat-less, do more cycle, and whether coaching is the right fit to help you quiet it. While it gets softer and softer, I still hear that voice every spring. The difference now is I don't obey it. And neither does she. And you don't have to either…. - Cori
