Where Light Gathers by Otlo Studio Set on a compact 1,400 sq ft plot, with neighbouring buildings closely enclosing its western and northern edges, the house responds to its constrained context by turning inward. At its core, a double-height dining court serves as both the spatial and emotional heart of the home, drawing natural light deep into the otherwise linear plan. This quiet central void anchors the interiors, creating the impression of a fragment of the sky held gently within the house. Defined by a generous semi-circular opening and an overhead skylight, the court becomes a canvas for shifting light, with daylight filtering through to animate the interiors across the hours and seasons. The arch is deliberately oversized, lending a quiet sense of monumentality to an otherwise intimate domestic setting. Its singular curved form frames the sky above the dining table, transforming an everyday space into a place of pause, light, and connection.
