I don’t know if anyone’s suffered through that terrible Jeremy Clarkson farming programme, but honestly… I’m starting to think I could make my own version about getting into the olive oil business for the first time. Today we prepared another pallet to send to the UK. Fourth time lucky? Of course not. This is me we’re talking about. I somehow managed to pick the one pallet with cross-bars underneath. The collection lorry arrives, the forklift goes in, and… bang. Straight through it. Pallet smashed to bits. So there I am, five feet in the air on the forklift, building a new pallet base like some sort of discount DIY Clarkson. Wouldn’t be allowed under UK health & safety in a million years, but this is Croatia – if you can reach it, you can fix it. Considering I haven’t lifted a hammer or a saw in about 30 years, I’m bizarrely proud of my pallet-repair craftsmanship. Every day a drama. Every day different.
