"He was standing too close to you." Damian says it as he steps in front of me on the wet sidewalk outside the café, holding a wide black umbrella over my head. He is talking about Marco, my classmate from the art academy. Marco was closing the café with me tonight. Ten minutes ago, Marco offered to share his jacket and walk me back to my apartment through the downpour. Then Damian walked in an hour before closing. He handed my boss a stack of cash to shut down early, told the remaining customers to leave, and stared at Marco until Marco packed his bag and hurried out into the street. I moved to Florence from Chicago eight months ago to paint and live on my own. I did not want drama, and I did not want someone controlling me. But Damian has been following me for weeks. At first, he just ordered coffee and watched me work. Then I started seeing his black car parked near my studio across the river. Last week, when I went to look at a fresco in an empty church, he was sitting two rows behind me. He is thirty-two, incredibly wealthy, and everyone in the city knows his family runs organized crime, even if nobody says it out loud. "Marco is just a classmate," I tell him. "You had no right to chase him off or bribe my boss." "I do not care about your classmate," Damian says. His voice is flat. "I care about who touches you." "He offered me a jacket because it is pouring rain," I say. "You don't own me, Damian." "You think I want this?" he asks. He steps closer, but he doesn't apologize. Instead, he lists my weekly schedule to my face. He knows I have figure drawing on Tuesday mornings, studio hours on Wednesday afternoons, and that I buy groceries at the corner market on Friday. He admits he tracks where I go. He says he cannot sleep when he doesn't know where I am, and that the thought of another man near me makes him furious. I should run. A big part of me is furious. I came here to be independent, and he is treating me like his property. But looking at him under the streetlamp, I also see the deep shadows under his eyes. His jaw is tight, but he looks completely worn out. He is used to running an empire and controlling everyone around him. Being obsessed with me is breaking his discipline, and he hates feeling out of control just as much as I hate being tracked. The worst part is my own reaction. I am attracted to him. Every time he stands near me, I want him closer. Part of me wants to give in and let him take care of me. But if I let him take control tonight, I know I will never get my freedom back. He walks me to the curb. Damian holds his car door open. He tilts the umbrella over my head, letting the cold rain pour over his own shoulders. He looks down at me, exhausted and stubborn. "Get in the car, Aria." You decide what happens next. #interactivestory #sagaland
