Most of us were taught that boundaries are arbitrary rules we state or preferences we enforce. But an embodied boundary is actually a physical shape. It is the felt sense of your own sovereignty, dignity, and agency. In our families and professional systems, many of us were socialised to tolerate and endure that which we do not truly consent to. The longer we stay in the state of enduring, the more we lose our connection to our own skin. We begin to feel responsible for everyone else's impact while abandoning our own domain. True boundary-setting is the ability to distinguish between your rights and responsibilities and another person's. It is the capacity to feel your own "yes" and "no" before you ever have to speak them. When you restore the link between your body and your choices, you begin to carry your responsibilities without losing yourself in the process. I have shared a 6-minute centering practice designed to help you return to your center of gravity and begin building the muscle memory for embodied choice. Listen to the practice below to begin restoring your sense of sovereignty.
