A joyful start to learning in Nepal begins with a choice: a hug, a fist bump, or a handshake. At Padmodaya Secondary School in Kathmandu, this warm greeting sets the tone for playful, engaging lessons that help 3- to 5-year-olds thrive. This is one snapshot of a transformation happening across Nepal’s education system. Led by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and supported by partners—including the Global Partnership for Education, the World Bank, UNICEF, the European Union, the United Kingdom (FCDO), ADB, Finland, Norway and WFP—Nepal is investing in what matters most: strong early learning, inclusion, and quality teaching. In just one year, the share of children developmentally “on track” for Grade 1 increased by 8%. More than 7,000 pre-primary teachers have been trained in child-centered, play-based methods that spark curiosity and build confidence. And over the past decade, out-of-school rates have fallen from around 14% to approximately 4–5%. Parents say children can’t wait to get to class—and sometimes wish school happened on weekends too. That excitement is the sign of a system working better for every child. https://www.globalpartnership.org/results/country-journeys/nepal-partners-action-improve-education-all-children शिक्षा, विज्ञान तथा प्रविधि मन्त्रालय Global Partnership for Education European Union in Nepal UK in Nepal World Bank Nepal
