okay so I'm posting this because I genuinely can't believe how much fur just came out of my dog like... I'm holding this pile in my hands right now and I'm honestly kind of grossed out? but also amazed? it's hard to explain let me back up I have a Golden Retriever named Cooper. he's 4 years old. and for the past 4 years my life has been an endless cycle of vacuuming, lint rolling, and finding dog hair in places dog hair should not be I'm talking hair in my coffee. hair baked into cookies (I wish I was joking). hair woven into my work clothes so thoroughly that lint rollers just give up my black pants? a joke. my couch? more fur than fabric at this point. my car? I stopped letting people ride with me because I was embarrassed I tried everything. those rubber gloves that are supposed to collect fur when you pet them? collected maybe 10% of what comes out daily. those wire slicker brushes? Cooper hated them and they barely got anything out. those deshedding tools that look like tiny rakes? helped a little but took FOREVER and hurt my hand I even took him to a professional groomer every 6 weeks. they'd do the full deshedding treatment. blow out. the works. $85 each time and within a week? back to square one. fur EVERYWHERE my husband actually suggested we get rid of our couch and just buy a brown one to match Cooper's fur. I thought he was joking. he was not joking last month I was at my breaking point. I had a work dinner at our house. important people from the firm. I spent 3 hours vacuuming, lint rolling every surface, even wet-wiping the walls (yes there was fur on the walls) dinner went great. everyone left. I sat down on the couch to finally relax looked down at my black dress COVERED. absolutely covered in golden retriever fur I actually cried. like sat there on my fur-covered couch in my fur-covered dress and just cried because I was so tired of living like this my friend Sarah came over the next day. I was venting to her about it. she was like "have you tried the ReNu brush? the one with the spray thing?" I hadn't. hadn't even heard of it she showed me a video on her phone. it was just someone brushing their dog. but the amount of fur coming out was INSANE. like comical amounts. and the dog looked completely relaxed. not annoyed or uncomfortable. just chilling I was skeptical because of course I was. I'd tried literally everything. why would this be different? but Sarah swore by it. she has a Husky. if you know Huskies you know they shed like it's their full-time job. and her house? barely any fur. I'd been to her place. I thought she was just vacuuming 10 times a day nope. she showed me her brush. said she'd been using it for 6 months. said it changed her life. said I needed to just try it so I ordered it that night. it was like $50? somewhere around there. figured if it didn't work I was only out 50 bucks. I'd wasted more than that on stupid grooming tools that did nothing it came in 2 days I opened the box and honestly my first thought was "this looks... nice?" like nicer than I expected. it wasn't some cheap plastic thing. felt solid. had good weight to it there's this little bottle of solution that you fill the brush with. it's got this cooling mist spray that comes out while you brush. the instructions said it helps loosen the undercoat I was like okay sure called Cooper over. he gets nervous with new grooming stuff because he remembers the brushes that pulled and hurt. but I sat down on the floor with him and started brushing the mist came out. he didn't even flinch. I think he actually liked it? his eyes got all relaxed and sleepy and then I brushed oh. my. god the FUR I am not exaggerating when I say the amount of fur that came out in the first 30 seconds was more than I'd get from 20 minutes with my old brush I kept brushing. kept collecting. the brush has this button you press and all the fur just EJECTS into your hand. so satisfying I brushed him for maybe 10 minutes total pressed the eject button one last time and I was holding what looked like a whole second dog worth of fur I took a photo. sent it to Sarah. she replied "RIGHT??? I told you" my husband came home from work. looked at the fur pile I'd left on the counter (I know, gross, but I wanted to show him) he just stood there staring at it "that came out of Cooper?" "yeah" "just now?" "like an hour ago" "...we should've bought this years ago" and here's the thing that really got me Cooper LOVED it like actually enjoyed being brushed for the first time ever. usually I can get maybe 5 minutes before he gets annoyed and walks away. but with this brush? he laid down. closed his eyes. let me brush his whole body. didn't try to leave once I brush him now every 3-4 days. takes maybe 10 minutes. he literally comes running when he sees me grab the brush because he knows it feels good and the fur situation in my house? I'm not going to say it's completely gone. he's still a dog. he still sheds but I went from vacuuming twice a day to like... twice a week my black pants are wearable again my couch looks like a couch instead of a dog bed I had people over last weekend and NOT ONE PERSON left with fur on them I know this sounds like I'm being dramatic or like this is an ad or something. I promise it's not. I'm just a person who was genuinely losing my mind over dog fur and finally found something that actually works and I feel like if you're reading this and you're in the same situation I was in... you need to know this exists because I wasted YEARS and probably thousands of dollars on groomers and tools and special vacuums when I could've just bought this $50 brush and solved the problem my only regret is not finding it sooner oh and one more thing - I see people in the comments on like dog posts always asking about shedding solutions and everyone always says "it's just part of having a dog" or "just vacuum more" and I used to believe that but it's not true. you don't have to just accept living in a fur tornado okay I'm done. I just had to share this because I was literally sitting here looking at today's fur pile thinking "other people need to know about this" if you have a dog that sheds and you're tired of being covered in fur 24/7, just try it. worst case you're out 50 bucks and you can probably return it. best case it changes your life like it did mine
