Bagru is characterized by earthy tones — indigo, black, red, yellow, ochre. The Dabu mud-resist technique creates distinctive patterns: lighter areas where mud blocked the dye, darker areas where dye penetrated. The patterns are geometric, floral, or both. Bagru prints are different from Sanganeri (white/off-white base with delicate florals) and Ajrakh (complex geometric symmetry).
