Ever felt like you’re at war with your body? That was me for most of my life. This is 42. I’m good with it. I used to harm myself, abandon my self and police my body. Now I see all the flaws and I feel so tender about them. That didn’t come easy - I tried every eating disorder (excelled at all of them thank yewww) and when I lost several loved ones and moved into a moldy apartment all at once, I gained 60 lbs. 60 lbs of grief and despair and poison. I had the access and the knowledge to force the weight off quickly to be more palatable to the rest of the world. I could have easily starved myself and used medication to force my body into submission one more time. But I chose to do it differently. To work with my nervous system. To feel the grief and learn boundaries and detox the mold and slow down and say no to people pleasing, so I could finally say yes to what matters. Here’s what I told a client yesterday who was frustrated, unhappy she wasn’t moving “fast enough” in her protocol: Slow is good. Slow is loving. Slow is respectful. Talk to your body like it’s an innocent mammal, because it is one. And it’s on your side. It wants to feel good. It knows how to heal, and it will always, always tell you the truth. The symptom is the language of the body. The illness is the initiation. Don’t be scared. You can do this. Everything you want is coming your way, and it’s coming through the portal of these symptoms. Understand them, love your body, and you will be set free. What do you think? I want to know. Xoxo S
