TWU Houston Campus is looking for participants for a study in resistant starches. Would you like to participate? • We are looking for women ages 18-45 with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and a BMI between 28–38 kg/m². Participants should not be pregnant or breastfeeding and should generally be in stable health without conditions or medications that strongly affect blood sugar, insulin, digestion, or gut health (things like type 2 diabetes, IBD or Crohn’s disease). • Because this study involves a dairy-based test beverage and resistant starch supplements, participants should not have milk allergies, severe lactose intolerance, or major gastrointestinal conditions. We are using a lactose-free test beverage, but some women may still have issues!) • Individuals using antibiotics, probiotics/prebiotics, GLP-1 medications (such as Ozempic® or Wegovy®), insulin, or other medications that significantly affect glucose metabolism may not qualify. The study also includes blood draws, body composition scans (DEXA), questionnaires, and stool sample collection. • Women do not need to live in Houston, however they do need to attend study visits in person (which can be up to 2 hours long). And there are 4, so living in Houston is highly encouraged. To determine whether you may be eligible to participate, please click the "Sign up" button and complete the brief questionnaire.
