Did you know - Frozen Shoulder is a shoulder condition that is very prevalent between the ages of 40 to 60 years old? 🧐🤯 F⁣rozen Shoulder or Adhesive Capsulitis is a common disorder that causes inflammation and loss of normal range of motion in the shoulder. It occurs when the connective tissue surrounding the shoulder joint (the joint capsule) becomes thickened and tight, restricting movement. Usually, the condition takes 2 to 9 months to develop. There are 3 stages to Frozen Shoulder - Freezing, Frozen, and Thawing. Generally, a long period of inactivity due to an injury, illness, or surgery also makes one more vulnerable to inflammation and adhesions. Other causes may include hormonal imbalance, Diabetes, or a weakened immune system may also lead to joint inflammation. Common symptoms of Frozen Shoulder may include dull or aching pain, and a loss of normal ability to move in all directions, especially with lifting the arm, reaching behind the back, or behind the head. Physical therapy is recommended for Frozen Shoulder. Treatment program will be customised according to the stage of Frozen Shoulder. The primary goals are to restore range of motion and alleviate pain. Treatment techniques may include manual therapy, stretching, and modalities such as electrotherapy, shockwave therapy, and Cryotherapy to help relax the shoulder muscles and reduce discomfort. As treatment progresses, functional training will be introduced to support day-to-day movements, and a personalised exercise program will be prescribed to improve mobility, prevent further stiffness, and ensure safe healing. If in doubt, please seek professional advice.
