THERE IS NO NEUTRAL SIDE Many people think there are three positions when it comes to choosing Jesus: - For Him. - Against Him. - Or undecided. But Jesus said there are only two. “He that is not with me is against me.” — Matthew 12:30 That is much stronger than saying we should eventually make up our minds. Jesus is telling us that spiritually, there is no neutral ground. Why? Because we are not born standing halfway between the kingdom of God and the kingdom of the enemy. Sin has already taken humanity captive. The Bible says God rescues us “from the power of darkness” and brings us “into the kingdom of his dear Son” (Colossians 1:13). Notice the direction. We do not begin in the middle and then choose between two kingdoms. We begin in darkness. Jesus comes to rescue us from it. That means if I have not chosen Jesus, I am still on the enemy’s side—not necessarily because I consciously worship Satan, agree with him, or even realize where I am. But I am still in the kingdom Jesus came to rescue me from. That is why doing nothing is still a choice. Imagine you are being held captive and someone comes to open the door. He says, “Come with Me. I can take you home.” You can follow Him. You can refuse Him. Or you can say, “I’m not ready to decide.” But if you do not go with the Rescuer, you remain with the captor. There is no third location. That is what makes our response to Jesus so important. Jesus did not come to recruit neutral people to His side. He came into enemy territory to rescue people who were already lost. “He that believeth not is condemned already.” — John 3:18 Already. We desperately need to understand that word. Jesus is not the One placing us in danger. He is the One entering our danger to save us. He is not standing at the edge of heaven saying, “Choose Me, or I will hurt you.” He is standing beside people already trapped by sin saying, “Come with Me. I want to save you.” And yet He will not force us. Even Judas walked beside Jesus while his heart slowly moved in another direction. He saw the miracles. He heard the truth. He experienced the love of Jesus personally. But Judas kept holding onto things he would not surrender. Little decisions became a direction. And eventually that direction became a destination. The same thing can happen quietly in us. Someday I will follow Jesus. Someday I will surrender. Someday I will forgive. Someday I will let go. Someday I will make my decision. But postponing the decision does not leave us neutral. If we have not chosen Jesus today, then we remain where sin has already placed us. There are only two kingdoms. There are only two sides. And Jesus said plainly: “He that is not with me is against me.” But here is the beautiful part. Jesus came across enemy lines looking for us. He came for people who were already against Him. He loved us while we were still sinners. He carried our sins to the cross. And now His hand is extended. Not to condemn us. To rescue us. Today the prayer simply needs to be: “Jesus, I choose Your side. I choose Your kingdom. I choose You. And wherever my heart is still holding back, help me surrender that too.” My friend, there really is no neutral ground. If we do not choose Jesus, we remain on the enemy’s side. But the moment we turn toward Jesus, we discover that the Savior has been reaching toward us all along. #ChristianReflections #ChooseJesus #ChristianLiving247
