Lessons From a Child - A Child’s Way of Talking to Jesus Our daughter and her whole family are back in the USA after their long trip to South Korea (halfway around the world). The little ones are still living on Korean time, so at 3:09 Friday morning, they came and woke us up. And honestly, it was wonderful. There is something about a little child that can reach places in your heart no one else can touch. For example, our youngest granddaughter looked at my beard, gently felt it, and said, “I like your fur. It’s so soft!” She was not trying to say anything profound. She was simply telling Grandpa what was in her heart. And it made me wonder: Does Jesus feel something similar when we speak to Him that way? Jesus told us that we must become like little children. Little children were comfortable around Him. They climbed onto His lap, leaned against Him, and received His embrace. And I believe Jesus loved holding them just as much as I love hugging my little girls. I wonder if He misses that. Perhaps that is one reason He lovingly calls His followers “little children.” He wants us close. He wants us to trust Him. He wants us to talk to Him without pretending or carefully rehearsing every word. When our children were in South Korea, their phone calls were always a bright spot in our day. But FaceTime was even better because we could see them, and they could see us. One call especially touched me. As soon as our youngest granddaughter realized Grandpa was on the phone, she grabbed the phone and began running through the house. First, she introduced me to her “daddy’s mommy” and her “daddy’s daddy.” Then she showed me the flowers. After that, she brought me to her special doll. She wanted Grandpa to see everything and everyone that mattered to her. I wonder whether Jesus feels something like that when we pray. Do we tell Him about the people we love? Do we show Him what has made us happy? Do we talk about what frightened us, surprised us, or hurt us? Do we share the small things simply because they matter to us? Or do we repeat the same words we said yesterday and then hurry away? Jesus already knows what is in our lives, but love still wants to hear it from us. One day, we will see His face. I wonder whether we will shout, “Hi, Jesus!” when we first see Him coming in the clouds, or whether we will be too overwhelmed to speak. And I wonder whether there will be tears of joy in His eyes when He finally welcomes His little children home. Until then, prayer is our conversation with Him. Lord Jesus, teach me to speak with You like a trusting child. Help me bring You the people I love, the things that make me smile, and the worries I do not understand. Keep me from merely repeating words. Help me open my heart and make You part of everything that matters to me. And when You come, may I recognize the face of the Friend I have been talking with all along. Amen. “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.” — Mark 10:14, NLT #ChristianFamily #GodsLove #ChildlikeFaith #FaithLikeAChild

BibleTimelines.com, in its entirety, is about who God is, and this page is only a small summary. It's certainly not a complete explanation of His love because that would be impossible. But the question is: Is God stern and angry, or is He kind, loving, patient, merciful, and even humble? The Bible g...
