Trusting God With Everything — The What, The How and The Why We were made to experience relationship. With God and with one another, and just as God shaped us for this amazing connection, God also gave us the innate knowledge that true relationship can only be built upon a foundation of trust. Yet when we look at the world culture that is constantly being rebuilt around us, we don't find trust, but rather the shifting sand of change. We don't find truth but rather layers upon layers of falsehoods and misdirection because the truth is suppressed in unrighteousness. (Romans 1:18) The truth is, it is impossible to navigate this world without trusting in God if you want to go home. The home where Jesus is preparing a place for us. Trusting God means placing our full confidence in His character, His promises, and His sovereignty, rather than leaning on our own understanding or strength. Scripture describes trust as an active surrender, a deliberate choice to lean the weight of our lives on on God alone. When we do, God responds with peace, stability, and direction. Trust grows as we immerse ourselves in His Word, pray honestly, and remember the countless ways He has been faithful before. It doesn't happen all at once, it happens step by step as you lean into the journey. What the Bible Teaches About Trusting God 1. A Command to Rely Wholeheartedly Proverbs 3:5–6 calls us to trust God with our whole heart, refusing to depend on our own limited understanding. As we submit our ways to Him, He promises to make our paths straight. 2. The Antidote to Fear and Anxiety Scripture consistently presents trust as the remedy for fear. When circumstances feel uncertain, God invites us to bring our anxieties to Him and receive His peace (Psalm 56:3; Philippians 4:6–7). 3. Rooted in Relationship, Not Theory Trust is personal. We trust God because we know Him, His compassion, His faithfulness, His protection. He is a Shepherd who leads and a refuge who shelters (Psalm 9:10; Psalm 91:2). 4. Expressed Through Obedience Biblical trust is not passive. It often requires stepping out in obedience even when the path is unclear, confident that God sustains those who rely on Him (Jeremiah 17:7–8). 5. Superior to Human Strength or Wealth Scripture warns against placing confidence in resources, abilities, or earthly security. True safety is found only in the Lord (Psalm 20:7; Proverbs 11:28). How We Cultivate Trust in God 1. By Knowing His Word Trust grows as we learn who God is. Scripture reveals His character, His ways, and His heart toward us (Romans 10:17). 2. Through Prayer and Thanksgiving When we bring our concerns to God with gratitude, His peace guards our hearts and minds, strengthening our trust (Philippians 4:6–7). 3. By Remembering His Faithfulness Looking back at God’s past provision builds confidence for the future. His track record becomes our anchor. 4. By Surrendering Control Releasing our need to manage every outcome allows us to rest in God’s sovereignty and wisdom (Proverbs 16:9). 5. In Community With Other Believers Hearing testimonies, sharing burdens, and walking with others strengthens our trust when our own faith feels fragile. Why We Know We Can Trust God 1. God's Unchanging Character: We can trust that God is consistent and faithful, even when humans are not. 2. God's Proven Reliability: Throughout history and personal experiences, God has provided for needs and answered prayers. 3. God's Plan and Wisdom: God has a purpose for every person's life, and He sees the bigger picture that we cannot. 4. God's Constant Presence: God is a constant presence, a comfort and a refuge in times of trouble and the center of our peace and joy. God gives us the Holy Spirit to guide us through each day with gratitude and discernment. God will never leave or forsake us. 5. God's Love: God demonstrated His love on the Cross that reconciled all who would believe in the death and resurrection of His Son. through God's mercy and grace and by the blood of the Lamb, God poured out His love. Trusting God is how we navigate this journey, it's how we walk through the valleys and the storms in peace, knowing He is in control and can work all things together for good. It is what clothes us in humility at every mount peak of success because we trust that God is our strength in the good times as well as the trials. We trust God because God holds everything together. (Colossians 1:17) Lord, we place our future in Your faithful hands. Teach us to trust You with our whole heart, to release every fear, and to rest in Your perfect peace. Guide our steps, steady our minds, and remind us of Your goodness in every season. As we surrender our plans to You, make our paths straight and our hearts secure in Your love. In Jesus name-Amen.
