It was a great honour for me to hand over the first copy of the National Export Development Plan (NEDP) 2026–2030 to His Excellency President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at the Presidential Secretariat, marking a significant milestone in Sri Lanka’s journey towards export-led economic transformation. Developed under the guidance of the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development and led by the Export Development Board of Sri Lanka (EDB), with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), this landmark national strategy provides a comprehensive roadmap to strengthen Sri Lanka’s export competitiveness and achieve an ambitious export earnings target of US$ 36 billion by 2030. The NEDP 2026–2030 is built around a vision of transforming Sri Lanka into a competitive, logistics and knowledge-based export hub serving regional and global markets. The Plan is structured around six key horizontal enablers: • Trade Logistics and Integrated Centre Operations • Trade Facilitation • Trade Finance and Business & Investment Environment Reform • Trade Promotion and Market Relations • Quality Management, Standards & ESG Compliance • Skill Development, Entrepreneurship & Innovation The Plan also identifies eight priority export sectors to drive export diversification and value addition: • Automotive Components • Mineral-Based Industries • Rubber-Based Industries • Marine Industries, including Boat and Shipbuilding • Spices and Concentrates • Digital Products and Services • Electrical and Electronic Components • Processed Food and Beverages Developed through extensive consultations with over 300 stakeholders from government institutions, the private sector, civil society organisations and international development partners, the NEDP reflects a shared national commitment to building a more resilient, competitive and globally connected export economy. I was pleased to be joined at this significant occasion by: • Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning • Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development • Mr. Russell Aponsu, Senior Additional Secretary to the President and Secretary to the Ministry of Energy • Mrs. Thilaka Jayasundara, Secretary to the Ministry of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Together, we look forward to translating this vision into tangible outcomes that will elevate Sri Lankan exports, strengthen domestic industries and create sustainable economic prosperity for our nation. #NationalExportDevelopmentPlan #NEDP2030 #ExportsSriLanka #ExportDevelopment #ExportGrowth #EconomicTransformation #TradeFacilitation #DigitalExports #ManufacturingExports #ValueAddition #ExportCompetitiveness #SriLankaExports #EDBSriLanka #MangalaWijesinghe
