THE INTERNAL WORLD OF THE MIND Introductory class: Sunday 3 May from 1.30 - 3 pm The internal world of mind, with a focus on responding not reacting, is the topic of this week’s introductory class. By identifying triggers including the effects of this digital world, we can gently explore the benefits of the Buddhist view of virtuous thoughts as a method of self-regulation. Each meditation in this introductory series, ‘The Path to Knowing and Making Sense of this World’ with Angela Scherma, includes different learning styles to help develop a calm mind. UNDERSTANDING DEATH AND REBIRTH IN BUDDHISM Path to Enlightenment: Sunday 3 May from 4 - 5.30 pm Although many times it's not acknowledged death is certain, while the time of death is uncertain. Understanding this more deeply can bring many benefits. In this class, Chris explores the Buddhist understanding of death and rebirth and offers guidance on preparing for a peaceful transition from one life to the next. MEDITATIONS ON THE PATH TO ENLIGHTENMENT 11 am -12 noon Tuesdays Guided meditation session on Tuesday 5 May from 11 am to 12 noon. Led by Paul Sokolich (Sox), the session offers guided meditations drawn from Meditations on the Path to Enlightenment by Geshe Loden. Enter from the back of the temple. The session concludes with a relaxed cuppa and chat. ABOUT THE CLASSES Sunday classes are held in a beautiful traditional Tibetan temple and are suitable for newcomers and experienced meditators alike. The Enjoyment Shop is open before the introduction class and from 3-4 pm. $10 facility charge. Proceeds support the upkeep of the temple and gardens. Address: 20 Cookes Rd, Yuroke.
