Good morning, sweet friend. ☕🌿 Can we sit with one little phrase from Psalm 23 today? “He restores my soul.” We often read this psalm as a promise of comfort, but David—who had once been a shepherd himself—chose these words very carefully. A sheep can’t restore itself when it’s tired, frightened, or lost. It needs the shepherd. The word “restores” doesn’t simply mean to make you feel better. It means to bring back, to return, to renew. God doesn’t just give us strength to keep going. Sometimes He lovingly brings our wandering hearts back to Himself. That makes me wonder how often I ask God to restore my circumstances when He’s first wanting to restore my soul. Maybe your marriage feels strained. Maybe motherhood has left you weary. Maybe work has drained you, or you’re carrying grief that no one else sees. We naturally pray, “Lord, change what’s around me.” But Psalm 23 reminds us that before God changes our path, He cares for the condition of our heart. And I love that David says, “He leads me beside quiet waters.” The Shepherd knows sheep won’t drink from rushing water because they’re easily frightened. So He leads them somewhere peaceful. Isn’t God kind? He doesn’t rush our healing. He leads us at a pace where our souls can finally rest. So as we begin this new day… 🤍 Are you asking God to fix your circumstances while neglecting the condition of your soul? 🤍 Where might the Good Shepherd be gently leading you to slow down so He can restore what’s been worn thin? I’m still learning that spiritual growth isn’t always about doing more. Sometimes it’s simply staying close enough to the Shepherd that He can refresh my soul. Have a beautiful morning, sweet friend. The Shepherd who watched over you all night will faithfully lead you today. 🤍 #SavedSouthernStillBecoming #Psalm23 #BibleStudy #WomenInTheWord #FrontPorchFaith #TheGoodShepherd #GrowingInChrist #FaithForToday
