Guizhou is a renowned province in China for its rich intangible cultural heritage resources. It currently boasts 99 national-level projects and 159 sites of intangible cultural heritage, ranking among the top in the country. Furthermore, there are 727 provincial-level projects and 1,324 sites of intangible cultural heritage, forming a richly layered and distinctly characteristic system for the protection of intangible cultural heritage. In recent years, Guizhou Province has closely followed the wave of digitalization, leveraging new technologies such as big data and artificial intelligence (AI) to precisely address long-standing pain points such as the discontinuity in the inheritance of traditional intangible cultural heritage, inefficient production, and narrow market. It has initially explored a development path where inheritance protection and industrial development mutually empower and promote each other. From 2015 to 2024, Guizhou Province completed the digital recording of 84 national-level representative inheritors of intangible cultural heritage, accumulating a total of 15,716 documents and collecting 5,304.3 hours of original video footage, with a total data volume of 85.2TB. A "digital gene bank" of intangible cultural heritage that can be permanently preserved and repeatedly accessed was established.
