This throwback photo is from one of the many therapy staycations that I took during my depression phase, which began around this same time in 2019. It was one of the toughest periods of my life, shaped by certain actions and behaviour of people. During that phase, I slowed down and spent time learning and researching—about health, fitness, and recovery. I began to understand how inflammation quietly harms the body, and how anti-inflammatory foods play a key role in healing by correcting internal imbalances, often in uncomfortable ways. Over time, I saw the same pattern in society. Harmful actions create social inflammation and slowly weaken systems, while forces that protect society—our defenders, leaders, changemakers, and responsible people—often have to take tough, sometimes unpopular measures to restore balance. Just as anti-inflammatory foods are not always enjoyable or easy to follow, people and actions that reduce damage are not always liked. But healing, whether of the body or society, is rarely gentle. It disrupts what is harmful to protect what truly matters.
