Job Title: Scaffolder Location: Melita Shipyards – Malta & France Business Unit: Melita Marine Group Employment Type: Full-Time ________________________________________ About the Role: The Scaffolder at Melita Shipyards is responsible for the safe erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffolding structures to support maintenance, refit, and repair work on yachts, superyachts, and other marine vessels. The role demands a strong understanding of safety standards, marine environments, and the ability to work efficiently in a dynamic shipyard setting. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • Scaffold Erection & Dismantling o Assemble, position, and secure scaffolding systems for use in vessel repairs and refits. o Dismantle scaffolding safely and efficiently upon project completion. o Build and adapt scaffolding structures to suit complex vessel shapes and varying heights. • Inspection & Safety o Conduct daily checks to ensure scaffolds are stable, secure, and compliant with safety standards. o Maintain proper signage, access points, and fall protection measures. o Report any hazards, defects, or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately. • Coordination & Support o Collaborate with other trades such as carpenters, painters, welders, and engineers to facilitate access to work areas. o Assist in the planning and layout of scaffolding for upcoming projects. o Ensure scaffolding materials are properly handled, maintained, and stored. • Compliance & Documentation o Follow company and international safety standards, including EN 12811 and OSHA guidelines. o Complete scaffolding permits, inspection logs, and handover documentation as required. o Participate in safety briefings and toolbox talks regularly. ________________________________________ Qualifications & Experience: • Minimum 3 years’ experience in scaffolding, ideally within a shipyard, construction, or industrial environment. • Valid Scaffolding Competence Certificate or equivalent qualification. • Thorough understanding of scaffold types, fittings, and configurations. • Ability to read and interpret scaffold drawings and safety documentation. • Good physical fitness and ability to work at heights and in outdoor environments. • Strong safety awareness, teamwork, and communication skills. ________________________________________ What We Offer: • Competitive salary and benefits package. • Opportunity to work on high-profile international yacht and superyacht projects. • Continuous training and professional development within Melita Marine Group. • Supportive, safety-focused, and team-oriented work environment.
