Job Title: Upholsterer Location: Melita Shipyards – Malta & France Business Unit: Melita Marine Group Employment Type: Full-Time ________________________________________ About the Role: The Upholsterer at Melita Shipyards plays a vital role in the restoration and fabrication of high-quality marine upholstery for luxury yachts and vessels. This includes creating and fitting custom cushions, seating, panels, and interior soft furnishings using premium marine-grade materials. The role demands precision, craftsmanship, and attention to aesthetic and functional detail to meet the high standards of the yachting industry. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • Fabrication & Installation o Design, cut, sew, and assemble custom upholstery for yacht interiors and exteriors. o Install and repair wall panels, headboards, seating, cushions, and protective covers. o Measure and fit fabrics and foams to ensure a perfect, tailored finish. • Repair & Refurbishment o Restore existing upholstery to original or upgraded specifications. o Replace damaged foams, fabrics, and trims using marine-grade materials. o Perform re-covering and re-padding of furniture, seating, and deck upholstery. • Material Selection & Quality Control o Select appropriate fabrics, foams, leathers, and vinyls suitable for marine environments. o Apply treatments and coatings for UV, moisture, and saltwater resistance. o Ensure all products meet quality, durability, and aesthetic standards. • Collaboration & Support o Work closely with carpenters and fit-out teams on integrated interior projects. o Read and interpret design drawings, templates, and specifications. o Maintain organized workspaces, manage materials efficiently, and minimize waste. ________________________________________ Qualifications & Experience: • Minimum 3 years’ experience in upholstery (marine, automotive, or furniture industry). • Proven skills in cutting, sewing, and fitting a range of upholstery materials. • Experience working with marine fabrics, vinyls, and foams preferred. • Ability to operate industrial sewing machines and cutting equipment. • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship. • Good teamwork and communication skills. • Knowledge of marine safety and quality standards is an advantage. ________________________________________ What We Offer: • Competitive remuneration based on experience. • Opportunity to work on prestigious international yacht and superyacht refit projects. • Ongoing training and professional development within Melita Marine Group. • Supportive, team-oriented work environment focused on quality and innovation.
